Who is Delonte West?

Delonte Maurice West.

Delonte West is a professional basketball player, currently with the Boston Celtics for the second time in his career. He was first drafted by the Celtics in 2004, Delonte was drafted 24th overall. But unfortunately in 2007, Delonte West got traded to the Seattle Supersonics. His stay in Seattle was a short one, but he tried to make his efforts to better the team as much as he could. Not even after a full season Delonte continued to move around. He was then traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. This seemed like a perfect match for Delonte, everything was starting to fall into place for him. After 2 seasons with the Cavaliers Delonte was facing some legal troubles off the court. He was pulled over in Maryland for traffic violations. During the incident, Delonte had possession of 2 hand guns, a shot gun in a guitar case on his back, and a bowie knife. This was not the only struggle Delonte was facing, he was also fighting a battle with bipolar disorder. The Cleveland Cavaliers were not too fond of all the bad publicity the Cavaliers were getting because of Delonte West. Finally they decided to trade him to the Minnesota Timberwolves during the off season. But that stay was nowhere near permanent. The Timberwolves were quick to release Delonte, and he was a free agent in the summer of 2010. Gratefully, the Boston Celtics took the gamble and gave Delonte West that second chance he was dreaming for. Unfortunately Delonte had to sit out a 10 game suspension due to the gun charges. Delonte was quickly able to get back into the game and find his spot into the rotation. But unfortunately, he would soon get injured, and miss a great deal of games. This season, 2010-2011, Delonte only played 24 regular season games, his lowest since his rookie season as a Celtic. Despite all of his difficulties, he always leaves his heart on that court at the end of the game. And thats what Celtics Head Coach, Doc Rivers, loves about him and earns him that playing time he deserves.

Everyone should read my blog about Delonte West because in my opinion, he is an elite player that is highly under rated. People just seem to judge him about some of his off-court situations and struggles that he has been involved in. I would like to inform everyone about the positives he has done on and off the court, so basically people won't 'judge a book by it's cover.'
